Remember the collapse and ultimate bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers in September of 2008? Only two months prior on June 30, with the stock trading at roughly $22 per share, Morgan Stanley issued a research report entitled “Bruised, Not Broken, Poised for Profitability.” The report initiated coverage of Lehman Brothers with an Overweight rating and a price target of $31.
Over the next few months, the stock traded straight down to virtually zero.
